As cybercrime continues to grow, more security needed to be safe in this world. Taking into account the same, Google has created its new verification feature for Google Gmail accounts to protect against the attack of Phishing. This verification feature will have a verification screen every time a G Suite user tries to log in to their account through a third party site. However, this security screen gets deployed from May 7, 2018. From the beginning, it will be present for G Suite / Google Apps end users.

The new Google verification will be available only to those who use Google Chrome. Let us know in detail about the new verification feature, which Google has introduced to protect G Suite users from Phishing.

How New Verification Works of Google Account?

The new Google verification screen will simply function as an additional security layer when there is a third-party login using the SAML single sign-on (SSO) protocol. SAML SSO does not need any interaction from the end users when logging into the mailbox. It will immediately allow users to log in to their account. Because of this, many of the attackers use the SAML SSO to prevent G Suite users from accessing a Gmail account controlled by the attackers.

Now, the accounts.google.com verification page will ask your users if an email account they are accessing belongs to them or not. Users can even confirm that the account belongs to them or not. If not, click on the Deny option. During this situation, users should investigate who is trying to cheat them by entering a malicious website.

Main Aim of Google’s New Verification Feature

By creating this new verification feature, Google has mainly maintained two objectives. One is to avoid the abuse of the SAML SSO protocol by the attackers. Another is like every day, many Internet users reduce the prey of phishing attackers by simply clicking on the links. It spread through emails or even on social networking websites.

Apart from this, Google even seeks to create a consistent identity and this new feature is part of it. The reliable identity is an identification, which users can use in Google web services. Also, even in the native services of the Chrome web browser. G Suite users who have already signed in to their mailbox can take advantage of the native features of the Chrome browser. However, they will want additional security during authentication, provided by the new Google verification screen.

In Summation

Be safe with Google now and avoid Phishing attacks. Google has taken a step forward, it’s your turn now.
